Medications
Since you’re here, you should already know that Hadley is no school. It isn’t a rehab, and it isn’t a juvenile detention center. It just looks like it is. Hadley is a controlled environment where a big shot pharmaceutical company can illegally experiment with new, unapproved medications on oblivious test subjects. But, we like to call them “patients”.
Patients DO NOT and WILL NOT know that they are essentially guinea pigs. Their families don’t know. However, the members of Hadley’s staff do know, and are prevented from speaking of it by those pesky nondisclosure agreements. Basically, use common sense. Staffers won’t be gossiping about sensitive information where they could be overheard, and you’re also expected (nay, required) to keep this information to yourself outside of game play as well. The mystery is half the fun, don’t spoil it. Now, getting to it…
The Hadley staff doesn’t even know what is in a medication, just what the effects are supposed to be, and what actually happens to the students who take it. All staff characters should be on the lookout for unusual behavior from the patientss, and note that behavior in the patient’s file for review. Testing means testing, Hadley wants to know how these medications affect people. Additionally, the only members of staff who know any real information about the drugs are the doctors, nurses, and administration – that is, the people who are actually running the show. Think about it. It doesn’t make sense for the janitor or the hallway security guard to know all the dirty details.
The medications are coded by a G for the company, a letter representing the type of issue it is intended to treat, and a number that acts as a name for the individual drug (like Aspirin and Aleve have similar functions, but are not the same medication). The easiest way to explain this is by example.
Snazzy, no? Just remember, this stuff isn’t known by the general public, and must stay that way. Loose lips sink ships and all that. Or in this case, totally illegal drug testing.
