Farewell & Adieu

Many of you who have been with us for a while will have sensed this coming some time ago, and it is with regret that we admit the time is finally here. STC's once bustling community has long since dwindled, as has much of the inspiration for the site and many of the muses. Even our long standing members have found that they no longer feel inspired to post, and many of us are struggling to find it in our hearts to put in the amount of work needed to run the site, when we feel that it is ultimately heading for its perhaps overdue grave.

So it is with regret and nostalgic fondness that we must finally put Suffer the Children to rest. To draw out its end will ultimately only harm its legacy and reputation in the long run. We apologise to our few members who still feel the inspiration and muse to post, but we are sad to admit that those members are the minority among what community we have left.

The forum's archive, called The Basket, is now open to all of you to peruse, and will remain so for some days so that you may save anything you wish to keep. Outside of this, the rest of the boards will be shutting down, and eventually, we will revert only to the portal page. We will leave a chat box on the portal page after closing, so that members may keep in touch and post links to others for sites they have found and enjoy. Ultimately, we feel this is the best possible option for STC. To beat the dead horse would be to do it an injustice, and we feel that it may do our members some good to branch out into other genres and other forums. We make make new friends and acquaintances and find new communities, and one day in the future, we may all come back. STC may live again. But we need a vacation at the very least.

We have tried multiple revamps of STC over its years of running, and many of these have been with the aim of revitalising that spark of interest it once held for us all. These attempts have failed, unfortunately, and all that is left now is to say goodbye to the forum that has been our home for so long, and to say hello to new avenues and new ideas, new communities, new players, new genres. Change is inevitable, and this is especially true in the world of RPing. STC was fortunate to have lasted as long as it did, and it outlived many, many other sites. It may yet outlive them again, should it reopen in the future, but we cannot promise that this will be the case, so we encourage you to find new communities to play with.

Some of our staff have ideas for sites of their own, and should these materialise,we will be only too happy to provide you with links to them. Past this, we can only say that we are sincerely sorry to lose such a wonderful site, but that we are glad that we can do STC the justice it deserves, and give it an official ending rather than letting it dwindle into a graveyard site. We hope that you all understand, and we encourage you to post your best memories and sentiments here if you would like.

Thank you all for your hospitality and friendship, and thank you for your years of dedication to STC. We say goodbye now to Suffer the Children, but we hope that none of us will be strangers, and that the few members we have left will continue to remain the great friends we have been, and a dedicated RP community.
