I am a very motivated person. I am driven by the desire to follow in my father's footsteps after he was killed in a drug-related shootout. I am strong and I don't let emotions impair my judgement. I'm physically fit and my main focus would be to protect the patients in the facility.

I took a four month course in a local police academy, but didn't make a passing score on my final exam. My older brother, however, drills me on the things I learned frequently in hopes that I will still retake the exam. I passed the physical parts but failed the written part. I have a high school diploma.

I was a candy striper when I was sixteen at the Brownsville Medical Center.

I've been smoking since I was eighteen, so I suppose a tobacco dependence would apply here. But I would never smoke in front of the patients.

I worked a late shift at the grill, so sometimes I would have to escort the ones that had gotten one too many beers into them out at closing time. Once a guy was larger than I was and was getting very bold so I had to resort to self-defense. I accidentally broke his nose. And I have some experience being a security guard, so that's helpful.

I was almost sentenced for breaking the man’s nose from the bar, but once the court realized that he had been drunk and I had acted only in self-defense, I wasn’t sentenced.

Describe how you would handle a situation in which a patient may become violent towards themselves or others:
Depending on the intensity of the patient, I would either try to talk them down before resorting to restraining/sedating them, or, if they were already too dangerous, skip the first part and restrain/sedate them immediately.

If your immediate supervisor instructed you to complete a task to which you felt morally opposed, how would you handle the situation?:
I would do it. Your supervisor is like your mommy; it doesn’t matter what they say, it’s your job to do as they say. The only exception would be if they were requesting you to do something unprofessional. For example, if I were asked to restrain a patient that was not expressing extreme behavior, I would do it; if I were asked to steal a stranger’s car, I would not.

If you discovered a fellow employee breaking facility rules and endangering patients or staff, how would you handle the situation?:
I would take it up with them, and if that failed, I would bring it to the attention of their immediate supervisor. If that failed, I would go to the supervisor’s supervisor, and so on, until the conflict was resolved.
