They tell me I have Schizotypal personality disorder. I was diagnosed with this when i was fifteen
When Emily was referred to me by mr.johnson’s home my initial thought was that they had misread Emily’s cult upbringing for schizotypal personality disorder but as I found out this was not the case. For a start I have learned from Emily that she is nervous in large groups as she feels that people are too close and often too loud as well. She feels uncomfortable if the attention of more than one person is on her and would much rather stay out of people’s way. She has told me of only one friend during her life called Alexis. She also shows a deep loyalty toward Amelia, though I do not believe this is a symptom of Schitzotypal personality disorder but is a product of her cultist upbringing.
Her belief that her god lives in her hair and allows her to hear thoughts and detect lost spirits is an example of schizotypal personailty disorder taking certain parts of her cults dogma and taking it in an even more bizarre and unusual belief. (Andrew Hayes. Emily's psychiatrist

Emily has been referred to psychotherapy. She has told the therapist that she has never truly felt like a part of anything. She has always felt out of place and alone. She has also shown the metaphorical speech and belief that somehow her god lives in her hair and allows her to read thought and sense lost souls.

some of the other children taken from that site seemed to only believe because they were afraid of the leader and looked for reasons to follow them. Emily on the other hand believed entirely in the cults customs. Early attempt to reach out to Emily lead to her shutting herself away for days. It was this behaviour that led us to suspect she had schitzotypal pd, so we referred her to a specialist who confirmed this

My home town and state is Charleston, South Carolina
I was born in and raised in the adult compound until I was ten years old and from there I was removed from my family so I could begin training. The place I was given did not have half the things I had before. My training consisted of intense exercises for the first few years and I was just about to begin leaning defensive techniques when my home was invaded and I was taken away.

The strange warriors appeared in the dead of night and proceeded to kidnap every member of us. They bundled us into the back of their transports surrounded by their smaller flashing vehicles. It is from there I was moved to my current location where I have lived for the last two years. My exercise rate has dropped since living here as they seem to under work the children. I have seen sweat but no one has passed out.

The new place is strange too. Their rooms are too soft and warm except for one room. I spent my first night there as it was the only place that didn’t have that carpet stuff on the floor. The Priests here or carers as they like to be known did not like that idea and so began to stop me from doing so. After a month of being caught I decided it would be better to play along with their strange ways.
This new place is odd as i said but I have come to like it somewhat. The meal times however still make me feel strange. Everyone is too close together and the noise is too much. Since I got diagnosed with Schizotypal pd however I have been allowed to sit apart from the others. This brings me some small comfort but I find myself glancing over to them to make sure none of them have moved. The strange thing is I have only felt this at my current home, perhaps the long hours of solitude kept this feeling in check somehow.

When I first arrived at this place, the other children used to ask me about where I came from then when I told them they would run away crying. Some of the really young children used to bring me these strange dead animals that they dragged around with them. I wanted nothing to do with such nasty things and so would shoo the young children away.

The “dead animals” Emily refers to here are stuffed toys. I assumed she just didn’t want any company. She never mentioned this at any point so I didn’t think to tell her that the animals were never alive.

After a while of the others running away in tears and the young ones being shooed away people simply avoided me. Except for Amelia and the other adults, but I could tell that Amelia was the only one I could trust and the only one who trust me. The other people are of no matter to me, Amelia is the only person I know and trust.


Emily’s statements here do not tell the whole story. The police who took her and the other children said that the rooms were similar to old prison cells. The children were allowed no contact with anyone outside of the training hours. The rooms had no beds or any furniture of any kind. The floor was bare. The children were allowed heating but only because they didn’t want them to die.

The training is another thing that Emily is downplaying. The children were subjected to brutal exercise regimes that were designed to root out all but the toughest children. The cult used to make the children run for several hours straight. This led to a lot of children collapsing out of exhaustion. Emily herself tells me that on several occasions the cult would deliberately keep the trainees running until they all passed out. The cult used this to test the endurance limit of the children and those who didn’t make it ended up as part of the slave class

The raid she mentioned appeared in the news two years ago as the cult facility was finally uncovered for what it was despite the attempts by the local police sergeant who was taking bribes from the orders high priests. The police planned a raid but knew an attack during the day would mean they had to face the possibility of killing some of the young members launched it at night .

She came to us the day after the event still wearing that horrible skin-tight uniform she was made to wear. When I heard her story I wanted to cry as this poor girl faced horrible conditions. She had no other clothes than the skin tight bodysuit she wore. She spent most of her first day in her room until it became night. We found her sleeping on the cold hard bathroom floor the next morning. She says this is because it was what she was used to. She still refuses to sleep in a bed and we have had to give her room to herself as the other children are terrified of her and her odd ways. She has in the past tried to recruit other children into the cult which is another reason we wish to transfer her to you.

It is very hard to reach Emily and to get her to trust you. It took me three weeks of therapy just to get her name. She remains cold and distant even today and I doubt she will make many friends. Emily began to give us reason to suspect she has schitzotypal pd when one of our helper suggested to Emily that she could do with a haircut, she hissed at the poor girl and began a tirade about how her god lived within her hair and if she cut it off he would punish her when she died.

This was not part of the doctrine, which only stated that hair was sacred. She also stated that he allows her to intercept what other people are thinking sometimes and has allowed her to sense the souls of those abandoned by their gods. When you can get her to speak it is usually laced with metaphors and exaggerations.

Her own cult noticed this and tried to administer their own therapy in the form of several whipping sessions over her life whenever one of the cult priests overheard her talking about it. We began to refer her to a qualified psychiatrist who confirmed our suspicions. He recommended that we book her into psychotherapy and after a few week he began to get her to open up to him about how even within her cults she felt alone, that despite completely believing what she was told and doing it, she felt that she didn’t belong somehow.

Emily claims that these symptoms started at around the age of six and grew worse as she began further indoctrinated into the cult. She claims that the thought interception and ghost sensing began when she was six months into her training. She went to the priests about these feeling and they told her it was demons and subjected her to a public whipping that day.

When she first came to us Emily avoided everyone. She hid herself in one of the female bathrooms and refused to come out for three days, even then she only came out as hunger became too great for her to resist. Some of the children tried to make friends with her, but she would give them an empty stare until they left her alone.

Later when she was more settled, she tried to recruit several of our other children into the mentality of her cult but met with no success and ended up making several children cry and run away as she explained the rules. After a few months of this she declared all the other children to be lost forever and made no further attempts to socialize. She has also attempted to challenge older children to a sparring session but had similar luck with that as well.

Emily met me about three months into her stay at Mr. Johnson's home for lost and troubled children. At first she treated me with the same passive hostility she showed to everyone else. She refused to even look my way for the first few sessions but she gradually opened up over many weeks and now talks openly with me. Over the two years I have known her I have only managed to crack the outermost layer of Emily’s cult brainwashing. It almost seems that she is afraid of letting the beliefs go. Despite my best efforts over these two years Emily still understands little of the world outside of her cult.



Through what I have learned from Emily and the information the police were allowed to tell us have managed to compile a rough idea of the dogma the cult followed. First the cult worshipped three gods. Each of these gods dealt with the slave, priest and bodyguard classes respectively (I assume Xarkos dealt with the bodyguards as it is the only god Emily mentions). All of the children that were not chosen to be priests were made to go through training. Those who were consistently among the first four to pass out were turned into slaves. At the age of sixteen the remaining few were made to take up the cults martial art to prepare for the “end war” which they said was coming at some point in the future.

According to what limited information was released by the police. The details of what lead to Emily’s rescue from the cult is this, the former police chief was secretly under suspicion of corruption and He was found guilty under the weight of the evidence. Among the evidence were several large donations from the cult. A separate investigation began from this evidence which likely involved aerial surveillance of the grounds. After a few months of evidence gathering the police launched their raid in the middle of the night.

The police took the cult completely by surprise and in so doing managed to capture every single member. The entire priest class including the founders were arrested and charged with multiple counts of every type of crime listed under child abuse. The combination of the evidence gathered before the raid and the evidence found after was overwhelming. The priest class was convicted of all of their charges. The founders of the cult were all sentenced to death while the other priests were sent to secure mental hospitals for life. The adult bodyguard and slaves were sent to places that specialize in breaking brainwashing. The young warriors and slaves have been scattered to many homes like ours. The information on these homes is unknown to us; this is to prevent any chance of other members of the cult finding Emily or vice-versa. All that the public know is that the young cultists are in care.

Emily was not given the chance to attend normal school as the cult had a policy of homeschooling their children as a way of avoiding negative attention. The cult taught them very little of the outside world and as such Emily’s reading and writing skills are very poor for someone of her age.

When she came to us we began trying to teach her but so far nothing has been successful. Emily will often try but the words do not seem to flow at all for her, after a while of this she will simply attempt to leave the room without saying a word or even making eye contact with anyone.

Emily seems to neither hate nor like our attempts at schooling her. She just treats our attempts with the same disinterest she shows towards many things

No. We trainees are not allowed to socialise.

Emily sometimes speaks of another girl called Alexis who seemed to have been her assigned sparring partner. Emily speaks highly of Alexis’s fighting skills and has said if she could ever meet another cultist again she hopes it’s her above all others. It seems to me that these two had the closest thing to friendship allowed by the cult. The two of them would often seek each other out during meal times.

Despite sex not being against the rules of her cult and actually encouraged at her age. Emily has shown no interest in any of the boys or girls staying with us. Nor has she ever looked at anyone when passing them in the street. I suspect that she is blocking what desires she may have until she returns to her cult.

Note Subject: Disciplinary Report

Note Contents: Ms. Redd was involved in a physical altercation with Ms. Tara Anne Quick. A review of the security footage indicated that Ms. Redd attacked Ms. Quick without warning or apparent provocation, punching her in the stomach. Ms. Quick retaliated by kicking Ms. Redd in the face. The two were screaming at each other when I arrived on the scene. I attempted to physically restrain Ms. Redd, but she twisted out of my hands, turned on me, and attacked, knocking me to the ground. I was forced to utilize my taser to subdue her to the point that she could be restrained. As I went to place restraints on her, she gave a curious statement, ordering me to "claim my prize" because she had "failed."

Other: After reading Ms. Redd's file, I surmise that she attacked Ms. Quick after realizing that the latter had a shaved head (she is a Trichotillomaniac and had her head shaved as punishment after an incident on the transport from Hadley Institute) because of the belief instilled through her cult upringing that her god lives in her hair; she condemned Ms. Quick as a heretic.
Because of their violent reaction to one another, I recommend that Ms. Redd and Ms. Quick not be permitted to room with one another. I also believe that Ms. Redd could benefit from a room to herself, at least at this point.
