Time After Time (Room A1 - Open) Empty Time After Time (Room A1 - Open)

She'd managed to procure a roll of tape. The masking variety and not very much. The didn't like the idea of her with her hands on the little jagged metal piece on a scotch tape dispenser, nor with enough masking tape say braid a choking length rope of. They seemed to think she had a lot of time on her hands to devote to exciting new means of deviancy. The truth was, Tara Anne could care less at the moment. She hadn't thought of either of those possibilities, she just wanted tape. Legitimately.

With her hair newly robbed from her she'd been spending a good measure of time staring at the mirror. Examining and stressing over the expanse of stubble and scalp that reflected back to her. She looked boyish and alien, and she hated it. It was like she was back on the ranch, believing she was something lesser all over again. She couldn't let herself think that way, not again. She was a different girl these days and even if that girl had been deemed a danger to society, she was still better than what she was born from. Tara Anne knew that for sure. So she had to put a stop to it. The mirror had to go.

Tape in hand she began tearing and sticking as quickly as she could. She was going to cover it over, outside of a small hole for her to do her make-up in the morning she wanted every inch of the reflective glass covered over. Photos went up one by one. Photos of Vivien mostly. Her smiley baby girl three states away. A few of her and David here and there as well. A good number of her with her swollen belly pictures prominently, bare, or both. They were photos that made her smile, and yes they made her feel exceptionally beautiful. World's away from how the reflection made her feel. In those photos she was pure woman. Glowing, happy, fertile, and shimmering with an inner power. As she should be again. One day...

The mirror half ways covered over with a small hole forming to keep the middle exposed when Tara Anne heard the footsteps. She paused, glancing up from the work that had her kneeling on her dresser top. The roll of masking tape worn round her wrist like a low-budget bangle bracelet.

Time After Time (Room A1 - Open) Empty Re: Time After Time (Room A1 - Open)

Post by Emily Redd Fri May 27, 2011 4:21 pm

As soon as she was given the directions of her new room Emily grabbed her bag and began the march up to said room. She moved past people as if they weren’t even there and almost ran into said people a couple of times. She smiled in relief when she realised she had made her way to her room without getting lost on the way. She hoped that the rooms here would be more to her liking but doubted that it would as Amelia told her that the room would be as furnished as her old one

Emily stared at the door for a second as she made sure that this was the room she was meant to be in. After a few seconds she opened the door and was surprised to find that someone else was in the room. “Roommate “She said in her usual hollow tone as she looked over the short haired girl in front of her. Emily noted that the girl had tape on her hand for some reason as she moved past her towards the only bed in the room that looked unused. Emily began moving her clothes into the drawers as she had learned to do.

As soon as she was done putting away her clothes Emily turned back around and sat on the floor next to her bed. It was then she noticed that the girl with the tape on her hand had partially covered her mirror. “There something you don’t want to get out?”She asked and pointed to said mirror. Emily stared directly into the other girl’s eyes as she waited for her answer. Her eyes darted to the door as she heard a faint creak outside their room. Emily got up slightly into a pounce position just in case the person approaching was hostile

Time After Time (Room A1 - Open) Empty Re: Time After Time (Room A1 - Open)

Post by Ellen Underwood Fri May 27, 2011 10:41 pm

As Ellen made her way back towards her room, her eyes barely left her right hand. She had her hoodie on, as always, which covered most of the marks, but the vivid black lines covering her hand stood out against her pale skin. the design spread up her arm, all the way to her shoulder, all drawn on by Nate. her beloved Nate. Could she call him her boyfriend? She loved him, and she was certain he loved her, there was no way he'd be meeting her at every possible opportunity if he didn't, and he certainly wouldn't be marking her anything like as much if he didn't care about her, but was their relationship really that simple? She'd ask him the next time they met up, when she curled up in his lap and let him work on her skin, turning her into an ever more beautiful artwork. the only thing ruining the perfection he was creating was her weight, she just needed to drop a few more pounds...

Shaking her head to try and rid herself of that thought, she slipped into the Bennett building, making her way around to ward A. Maximum security for her, presumably so the staff would have an excuse to hack off another one of her limbs. The symbols Nate had drawn on her mangled arm had faded already, though they were still just about visible, and she hadn't asked him to renew them. Strength and courage, that's what he'd said they meant, but those were two things she didn't posses. If she was either of those things, she'd never have attempted suicide anything like as often as she had. She'd still have both hands, she might even still be in New York, with her sisters. No, she was at Saint Christina's, because she was weak and scared. Always weak, and always scared.

Saying nothing, the one handed blonde made her way into A1, glancing over to Tara-Anne with a curious look on her face, and glaring at the stranger. great, that was just what she needed. More roommates to deal with, more people to try and dodge when she wanted to draw Nate's latest body art into her sketchbook, to keep a real, permanent record of it. She didn't know how long she'd be doing that for though, after all, her body was now a constantly changing piece of living artwork. Was a thing like that even supposed to be recorded? That was another thing to ask him she supposed, assuming the crouching roommate didn't eat her first, or whatever it was she was planning to do from that outright weird position. Saying nothing, Ellen just stared at Emily, her sketchbook tucked under her left arm, the hand hidden in her hoodie's pocket, just as it always was.

Time After Time (Room A1 - Open) Empty Re: Time After Time (Room A1 - Open)

"Yeah, Room-mate." A girl with more brown hair than she had any right to have walked in and addressed Tara in the most bare bones manner possible. A sparse eyebrow was raised as she answered. Confirming at first before going back to her work, tearing off another piece of tape and looping it before sticking it to the back of the photograph that was balanced, face down on her knee. Tara Anne glanced back up as she store another piece of tape off. Giving the cold, robotic girl a once over.

"I generally prefer Tara Anne to room-mate though. Who are you?" There was a little ice to her voice honestly. Tara wasn't in a good mood to begin with and this girl already rubbed her the wrong way. She was short, verbally. And not in an shy way or a scared way. She seemed apathetic. Apathy always seemed to Tara Anne to simply be a state of being too damned lazy to off oneself. To be honestly she'd have preferred someone who actually cared enough and possessed the motivation to end it all.

As Tara stuck another photo to the mirror, she paused to look at it. It was taken at the Hope Foundation. David was hugging her around the shoulders and she was leaning her head into him. All curly haired and happy. It was taken only a month before she had Vivien, her belly was big and stretching the fabric of her second hand maternity shirt that had grown too small. “There something you don’t want to get out?” a question came that made Tara Anne give a small snort of disbelief. She answered without looking at the other girl. She was clearly mental addled.

"This isn't Alice in Wonderland. Nothings going to come out of the mirror..." She glanced back only at the end of her statement, seeing the new girl crouching on the floor in some ridiculous Tarzan style position. Like an animal. Then her eyes turned to the door as the blond walked in. They'd been Sophmores together at Hadley. Enough that Tara knew her name but little more than that. She glanced at the new girl again with a little bored look.

"Don't be such a spaz." Then turning back to the mirror she pressed a hand over one unruly picture to try to flatten it down a little more. "Hey Ellen. Welcome home."

Time After Time (Room A1 - Open) Empty Re: Time After Time (Room A1 - Open)

“My name is of no importance “Emily said as she picked up on the slightly icy tone beneath the other girl’s words. Emily considered answering the girls challenge for a second but decided against it for now. Emily felt the beginnings of that strange cold creeping feeling she usually get when she is forced into social situations and visibly shuddered for a second. She then closed her eyes to begin the ritual she had discovered to fight off the effects before they took over. She softly repeated to herself that the other girl was a cabbage and forced herself to visualise that when she opened her eyes. Emily smiled slightly in relief as she felt the coldness begin to melt away.

Emily would have answered Tara’s statement about Alice in wonderland but she was too focused on the door and getting ready to attack should the person passing by dare to enter this room with hostile intentions. Emily adjusted her position to make her attack easier to do should she need it. Emily heard Tara Anne call her a spaz but it sounded like a muffled whisper to her. She watched with her usual cold stare as the door opened and the person walked in. Emily tensed up as the final preparation for her attack when the girl came into sight.

Emily attempted to catch Ellen’s eyes to determine if she was a threat though she was almost sure she wasn’t. Emily felt no real interest in fighting her anyway and relaxed out of her pouncing position. ”No threat “she said in the same hollow tone though this time seemed to have a small trace of disappointment laced within. She sat back down and stared at the wall between the two until she noticed Ellen staring at her from the corner of her eye. Emily simply turned to her and answered Ellen’s stare with a blank one of her own. “There something you need?”Emily asked with the same hollow tone she always used.

Time After Time (Room A1 - Open) Empty Re: Time After Time (Room A1 - Open)

Post by Ellen Underwood Sat May 28, 2011 9:56 pm

Prhaps unsurprisingly, Ellen did not allow Emily to make eye contact with her. Why should she? She had no idea who this girl was, and not much desire to find out. From the sound of things, her other roommate, Tara if she remembered rightly, had already decided she didn't like the frankly strange girl crouching on the floor, and Ellen's initial impression was that the bald girl had the right idea. "What?" she muttered as the strange girl said something about a threat. Did she really deserve to have a roommate like this? What had she done to the staffer in charge of assigning the beds? Whatever it was, this had to count as cruel and unusual punishments.

Emily spoke again, and Ellen just shook her head. Setting her sketchbook down on her bed, she fished her pencilcase out of her hoodie's pocket and placed it beside the large, pink pad, keeping her prosthetic concealed at all times. Just because she was living with these two didn't mean she had to share her embarrassing limb with them, even if they would see it sooner or later anyway. If Emily wasn't in here, chances were she wouldn't be so cautions though, from the looks of the mirror Tara wasn't too keen on her own staff mandated appearance. Glancing over to the girl, but saying nothing, she thought for a moment. Somewhere in her stuff was a present Neva had given her, one she thought might be of more use to the girl with the shaved head.

Continuing to ignore Emily, she walked over to her wardrobe, and after a couple of minutes searching, pulled out a slightly battered looking pink hat. She hadn't worn the thing, maybe it would do the other girl more good. Crossing the room, she held it out in her ink covered hand, shifting awkwardly. "I thought you might like this. It's a bit girly, but..." she said, her voice quiet, trailing off and ending with a shrug. She'd tried at least, what more could she do? With any luck, Emily wouldn't be here long, she hadn't been at Hadley after all, and newcomers rarely seemed to last at the old institute. Maybe the same would be true here.

Time After Time (Room A1 - Open) Empty Re: Time After Time (Room A1 - Open)

Post by Guest Sun May 29, 2011 11:03 pm

'Greaaaaaaaaat...' was her only thought. It was quickly growing obvious that this new girl did not have so much as a toe in reality. Crouching low, attack ready like a mortal combat character before the player has permission to button mash. Apparently that's what life was going to be like in Ward A. They were the worst of the worst now weren't they? Tara had just hoped she wouldn't be surrounded by delusional psychotics, she could deal with most of the Hadley crowd, St. Christina's crowd now, but for some reason the delusional kids grated on her. Burning though her patience like a pyro with no fuel but tissue paper.

"Alright then, no names. I suppose it will just save us the breath of having to talk to you..." This time she didn't even put in the effort to sound annoyed or cold. It was stated matter-of-factly. with a tired tone. She wasn't interested in pouring extra effort in when the other person clearly wanted nothing to do with her. She went back to her work: ripping, looping, sticking. nearly 3/4 done now, there was only a little more to cover over. If she ever really needed to know what she looked like the other girls had mirror she could sneak a peek at.

Tara looked up from her work, a little surprised that Ellen had actually walked across the room. Admittedly she didn't know her very well but even from a distance Ellen never seemed to do much beyond duck her head down and sketch. Tara Anne's expression softened into a slight smile. She reached out and took that hat gingerly, almost as if she wasn't entirely convinced it was in fact, real. "Thanks..." she said slowly. "I lost my hat on the plane, that's when they decided to shave it all off. ... plus it was getting really hot to be wearing that beanie anyways. She tried it on, it was someplace between and proper fedora and a fisherman's hat which really was a pretty good combination for her purposes. It fit a bit more snugly than a regular fedora would. It was still plain as day that she was bald but it was something. At least she wouldn't get her scalp sunburn.

"I like your ink," Tara added with a little nod to the swirls and such drawn on her hands. "Who did it?" Although she didn't really know why Ellen never let her other hand lead her hoodie, Tara had still been around long enough to notice it. She imagined perhaps some bad scarring, missing fingers, maybe some kind of phobia regarding possessed hands. Tara Anne had heard of a movie like that, Idle Hands or something. Whatever it was Tara was willing to bet she didn't expose her hidden arm long enough to draw on her right one. "It looks pretty but also badass at the same time, that's cool." The masking tape ring round her wrist again, she batted it around with one hand in her lap while they spoke, albeit so little.

Time After Time (Room A1 - Open) Empty Re: Time After Time (Room A1 - Open)

Emily nodded to herself when Tara said she wasn’t going to bother talking to her in the future. ”Good talking isn’t allowed in room” she added in little more than a whisper. Emily then sat down again and listened to Tara continue to cover the mirror in tape. What a strange girl Emily though as she wondered what exactly the point of covering the mirror with tape. Emily chose to crush that train of thought as is would be unbecoming of a bodyguard to allow herself to become distracted by petty interests such as that. Even so Emily could not turn away from the other two girl’s conversation

Emily smiled to herself when Ellen refused to meet her eyes and chose to watch the two as they continued to talk to each other. Emily’s interest was piqued when Ellen walked over to her wardrobe and pulled a hat from it then gave it to Tara. Why? She wondered to herself as Tara took it, Emily looked over Tara again to find out and that was when she noticed her lack of hair. Emily reeled back in shock for a moment. She then got to her feet with a blazing anger as this girl had dared to shave off her hair.

“Heretic “she hissed while staring directly at Tara as she got to her feet”You dare mock the gods by shaving off your hair?”She asked in a tone of barely restrained anger as she advanced towards her. The other girl didn’t even register in Emily’s sight or mind at this point. She had only one thought running through her head at that point which was to punish this fallen that dared to mock the three aspects of the light. Emily then ran the last few steps and swung a punch that she aimed at Tara’s stomach

Time After Time (Room A1 - Open) Empty Re: Time After Time (Room A1 - Open)

How on earth did someone like Ellen end up sharing a room with a girl who apparently thought she was Xena? Ellen was harmless, even if she wanted to attack someone, she wouldn't be able to do anything, yet here she was sharing a room with someone who was, for some extremely strange reason, crouched down and looking like she was about to pounce. What was she, some kind of frog? Xena the frog...she'd have to draw that later, even if the amphibian would probably break her neck for it. It would be worth it for the look on her face though, and the knowledge that Emily would never leave ward A, even if Ellen and Tara managed to get themselves moved down to B. "What? No talking?" she muttered, looking to the girl and frowning. Quiet as Ellen might be, she wasn't going to stick to someone else's silence rule.

"No problem." she said quietly, her attention returning to Tara. "I know what it's like to have...things you want to hide." she added, shrugging her left shoulder. Judging by the way Tara was covering the mirror, she didn't want to look at herself, so she couldn't want everyone to see her head, right? Even with the hat, it wasn't exactly hidden, but then, Ellen doubted there were that many around who didn't know she was missing a hand. Besides newcomers like Xena anyway, and Ellen couldn't care less about her. "Thanks." she replied to Tara's compliment, lifting her hand up to study the patters a little more. "My boyfriend did it. He likes to draw on me, and..." she trailed off, smiling. Being drawn on made her feel like she was worth something, even just as a canvass, and she loved that feeling.

Before she could say anything else though, Xena sprang into action. Gods? What on earth was the little sociopath talking about? Whatever it was, she looked pretty furious, and Ellen didn't want to get involved in that. Getting hit would get her sent to the infirmary, and with Neva not working on campus, that was the last thing she wanted. Scrambling backwards to get out of the way of the charging crazy, the frail blonde tripped, falling flat on her back and knocking her head on the floor, the hook on the end of her false hand escaping from the confines of her pocket as she dropped, a squeak of pain emerging from her lips. Laying on the ground, a little dazed, she tried to pull her brain back together and looked up to see what the hell Xena was trying to achieve.

Time After Time (Room A1 - Open) Empty Re: Time After Time (Room A1 - Open)

Post by Guest Thu Jun 02, 2011 12:57 pm

Tara Anne had no longer been listening to a word Emily was saying. Why bother? Clearly the girl had nothing to contribute to reality. Also Tara Anne didn't give a flying rat's ass what kind of rules this girl want to contribute to the room. The Quick girl wasn't about to follow any of them. This room didn't belong to the new girl, it belonged to them. All of them. Tara understood that extremely well, honestly she never had a room to herself before. There was always another body or two, or eight there. Sharing was the most important thing in the word when you were talking about room-mates. That and importance of not stepping on others toes. A concept the new girl clearly didn't understand.

"That sounds nice," said Tara, with a soft smile. It was nice to know the frequently so silent girl had someone, even nicer to know she was willing to make at least a little conversation with her. Tara reached up and adjusted the hat again. Running a finger under the band and giving a little scratch to one spot of skin where it itched. This could work, certainly it wasn't going to fool anyone but at least it would shield the stares.

Then the shouting happened. Tara Anne barely had time to react before a fist hit her stomach, her womb. Something right between a shout and a groan sounded from her mouth as she reacted to the sucker punch. Doubling over and squeezing her hazel eyes shut. Still, Tara had taken plenty of hits in her time. She wasn't down for long. She scrambled up, still on top of the dresser giving her a lot of height over the other girl. Kicking her feet out as she went, hoping her could land something, hopefully to the face if luck was with her. Her back to the wall now and the whole scene before her she saw Ellen on fallen on her back. Prone but thankfully forgotten by the psycho.

"Hair isn't righteousness, back off! I didn't even cut it willingly." Tara Anne shouted back. Seeing red suddenly. This girl that was once a mere annoyance was not so much of what Tara Anne hated. She grown up with this irrational reverence to hair. In the FLDS there were a million hair rules. You must never cut it, you must never wear it loose. The higher the poof the higher to God. It was as stupid as it was disgusting. Even as a little girl she'd been told that the rare natural curl of her hair in a community with straight-haired dominance was a sign of a sinful nature. She was literally twisted. Then she started pulling it. The discipline that resulted from it was harsh but the looks were even worse to a kid.

"Get away from me or I'll rip your's out. Let you look as ugly as you are, you judgmental prick." She sent another full-force kick in the direction of the cultie's face. She was mad now, something you didn't want to see in a sadist looking for someone to hurt.

Time After Time (Room A1 - Open) Empty Re: Time After Time (Room A1 - Open)

Post by Emily Redd Fri Jun 03, 2011 12:32 pm

Emily was mildly surprised by the fact that Tara got up so quickly after being punched. She saw Tara’s attack fraction of a second too late and Tara's feet slammed into her face, knocking Emily to the floor. Emily got to her feet after a couple of seconds. “Nice shot...didn’t think a fallen knew how to fight” she said with a small smile on her face as she wiped the blood from her lip and nose. The smile lasted for only a second before the same empty look from earlier appeared on her face again.

“Doubtful...But if you wish to try” Emily said after Tara threatened to tear her hair out. She ducked under the second kick and stood still as she waited to see if Tara would give up the high ground. Emily looked around the room and noticed that there was no way to overcome Tara’s current height advantage and that the room wasn’t really big enough for the two of the to fight equally

No matter Emily thought to herself let this fallen have her advantage .It might be fun to see how good she is. It was then that Emily caught notice of Ellen still being her out of the corner of her eye “Are you going to fight?”Emily asked her while keeping her focus on Tara and what her next move will be. “If not it is best you leave. You would be a distraction to your friend here and I want to face her at her best” Emily added as she felt the rush of the fight again. She was sure that either she was going to win this fight or she would please lord Arcos by finding him a worthy new Warrior in Tara

Time After Time (Room A1 - Open) Empty Re: Time After Time (Room A1 - Open)

Post by Ellen Underwood Fri Jun 03, 2011 11:56 pm

What the hell was going on in here? First the cult psychopath attacked, not she just stood there, with what Ellen could only assume was a broken nose? There was a lot of blood, and screaming, lots of screaming. Security would hear it soon, she hoped, but then, that implied competence. She'd have to do something about this, she'd have to brave talking to guards who were not only dangerously incompetent, but who were carrying guns. Live ammunition around the mentally ill. Wasn't that a wonderful idea? She was sure GR, whoever they were, were going to regret that when someone like Emily made a grab for a gun and shot half the patients. Maybe that was the point.

"Keep away from me." she mumbled as Emily turned to her, shuffling backwards on the ground, before she began to pick herself up, half expecting a kick in the face at any moment. Still, at least by distracting Emily like this she was going to let Tara do some damage to the girl, there was no way she could defend herself while she was talking like this, right? "Leave Tara alone, you're crazy." she added, hiding her hook in her pocket once again and taking another couple of steps back, until she felt the wall behind her. Tara was going to win this, sure, but...Ellen didn't want to know what would happen the next time, or the time after that. They had to get Emily out of this room, fast.

"I'm getting a guard." the girl said, hopefully loud enough for Tara to hear, before she bolted out of the room. She had to find security, fast, before one roommate did lasting damage to the other. If that happened, she'd probably have a harder time getting rid of Emily rather than Tara, given the way the fight seemed to be going when she left. Still, the pitifully frail blonde hurried to the first guard she saw. "Please, help me." she squeaked, glancing to their gun a few times. "there's a fight in my room. My new roommate attacked Tara, please, stop her." she added, shaking a little. "Please don't shoot Tara." she added, her voice barely a whisper by now. Would they shoot Emily? She hoped so...

Time After Time (Room A1 - Open) Empty Re: Time After Time (Room A1 - Open)

Post by Christiana Keeble Sat Jun 04, 2011 10:11 am

Christiana had been patrolling the floors of Bennett's, marveling as she did so at how different the new facility was from Hadley. For one thing, she wasn't required to live on-site anymore; she had a townhouse not too far away, but she wasn't in constant contact. And the students were more strictly segregated than they had been--different buildings for different genders rather than just different floors. Add that to the fact that the facility hosted adult patients as well as adolescents, and she was truly in a whole new world. The latter fact was one that made her pause. On the one hand, it meant that those who truly needed the help Hadley had been giving them wouldn't just be thrown to the wolves when they turned eighteen; on the other hand, it meant she would have to continue to deal with the likes of Roscoe Jones. A muscle twitched in her jaw as she remembered her last encounter with the troubled teen. If there was any patient who made her grateful for the more extensive arsenal at her belt, it was him.

She was patrolling the halls of Ward B--medium-security, and if she recalled correctly the place where Kennedia Okpik, the girl who had fought Niamh Bright, was ensconced--when she heard the muffled sounds of shouting. Instinctively, she picked up the pace, heading towards the sound. It took her a moment to realize that it was in Ward A--high security. Oh, Lord. Bracing herself for the worst, she headed into the ward and stopped to pinpoint where the noise was coming from. The shouting had sort of stopped and she wasn't sure which room. Of course, she could always have just kicked down doors until she found the problem, but this was high-security and she didn't want to risk getting jumped unnecessarily.

The problem was solved for her a moment later when a fragile-looking blonde came running towards her. Christiana recognized her as one of the Hadley transfers and was racking her brain for the girl's name and case when the girl begged for help because of a fight between her roommates. It was the whispery voice that jogged her memory--this was Ellen Underwood, the girl who had lost an arm several months back after an accident in carpentry, the girl who had backslid after several people she cared about had left the facility. The girl who hadn't spoken in several weeks. She was almost too startled to say anything, but then shook her head and focused on what the girl was pleading with her about.

Please don't shoot Tara. What was she...? Christiana followed the girl's glance to her belt. Oh, right. She'd gotten so used to carrying nothing more than tranquilizers and sedatives that she had forgotten one of the biggest changes between St. Christina's and Hadley. She had been issued with a gun. Turning back to Ellen, she offered her what she hoped was a comforting smile. "Don't worry. I won't shoot anyone." She didn't even bother adding If I don't have to; she had a taser, after all, and she would use that first. If necessary. Hopefully it wouldn't be.

"Come on...Ellen, right?" she continued, confirming the girl's name just to be sure. She headed down to the door that was open, motioned for Ellen to stay outside the room--no point in getting her hurt, but she wanted to keep her close just in case--and stepped inside. One girl was crouched on a dresser, looking absolutely furious despite the rather feminine pink hat. Christiana instantly recognized the girl as another Hadley transfer, the one with trichotillomania, the one Officer Corsi had pulled off of a boy on the plane. No wonder she was in Ward A. She guessed that this was Tara. The other girl stood on the floor, a curiously blank look on her face, blood coming from her nose, in what was almost certainly a fighting position. She was unfamiliar, probably not a transfer from Hadley. Great. Christiana would have to review the tapes later to determine who had started the fight (thank God this facility actually had cameras in the dorms, that had been one of her mild problems at Hadley, not knowing who had started what), but Tara had definitely drawn first blood.

"All right, that's enough," she said sharply. Knowing from prior experience that mere words rarely did the trick--and keeping in mind that she was dealing with, essentially, the worst of the worst--she made an instant decision and reached for the arm of the girl standing. Her intention was to twist the girl's arm behind her back, perhaps try to force her to her knees, get her into submission. She would deal with the other girl momentarily, although she hoped in the back of her mind that if she could subdue one, the other would come quietly.

Time After Time (Room A1 - Open) Empty Re: Time After Time (Room A1 - Open)

Post by Guest Sun Jun 05, 2011 3:57 pm

Tara Anne was not a trained fighter, the cult she was born from would never allow such a thing. Women weren't supposed to do anything beyond fulfill their goals as daughters, wives, and mothers. They were to 'Keep Sweet'. This meant no anger, no sadness, only happiness and reverence of God. Simple as that. Fighting was right out, be it with other women or–God forbid– against a man. So even as she kicked out again there was no science to it. When Tara tried to hurt it was largely trial and error. In Salt Lake City she'd been taught a bit, but then she'd had tools: needles, scalpels, whips and stiletto heels. Plus they were used on a party who sat still and waited for her next move. Not one that fought back.

"Come on, come at me you little brainwashed whore." Was shouted. She hated to see her just stand there and wait. It was unsettling. She should either be running away or fighting back. Another swing, this one even harder than before and with little control to it. Tara had barely noticed Ellen's words or her quick exit. She just wanted to make this nutcase cry. A snarling scowl on her lips. She only seemed to be getting more angry at the sight of Emily standing there so defiantly. Blood all over her face but so little reaction to it. She wanted more, more physicality, more pain on her face.

But suddenly there was a woman in her view instead of a girl. Grabbing the little religious nutcase. Hand on her in the way that spoke to training and being devoid of the desire to hurt that Tara felt. Tara Anne forced herself to pull back. Gripping the mirror behind her on the dresser top with force. Her knuckles turning white. She squeezed her eyes shut. She wanted to tear that hair out, just like she promised. But she knew she'd do best to lack off with security suddenly there.

Time After Time (Room A1 - Open) Empty Re: Time After Time (Room A1 - Open)

Post by Emily Redd Mon Jun 06, 2011 3:56 pm

Emily turned her focus back on Tara and smiled when she heard her scream at her to attack. Emily knew any attack against Tara was doomed to fail while she had the high ground but that didn’t mean she couldn’t remove the high point in this case. Emily’s smile became even wider as she realised this and prepared her attack. Emily then lunged for Tara and was about to swing at her legs when a loud voice demanded that they stop. Surprised that this person had managed to enter the room undetected Emily lowered her fist so she could determine this new person’s intention.

Emily was about to consider the woman a non-issue and return to the fight with Tara when she felt the woman’s hand touch her arm. Emily reacted on her training and jumped out of reach at the last possible second. Caught in the fighting mindset Emily failed to realise this woman was a staff member and saw her as someone wanting to enslave her. Anger blazed in Emily’s eyes as she stared at the woman. ”No-one enslaves me” she hissed in anger though a small trace of fear could be heard within

Emily backed up towards the wall furthest to the wall. She knew this fight was going to be trouble. Her eyes darted between the three other people in the room almost daring them to attack. Three of them, I never got to learn how to take down multiple opponents she thought as her face scrunched up in a mixture of fear and anger. Emily knew she would have to take imitative and take one of them down before they could use their numbers against her. She decided to target the woman first and so dropped into the fighting pose and charged for her with her fist raised

Time After Time (Room A1 - Open) Empty Re: Time After Time (Room A1 - Open)

Post by Ellen Underwood Wed Jun 08, 2011 9:00 pm

Ellen was a little surprised at just how easy it had been to find a guard in this place. Who'd have thought that these people could actually be found when they were needed? That was one improvement over the old hadley right away. There, she'd never have been able to find one, right up until she didn't want to. Here, even if they were armed to the teeth, at least they were capable of showing up and doing their jobs every once in a while. Hopefully, they'd even have the sense to use those guns for something useful and make sure Emily never had the chance to attack them in their sleep. She wouldn't be in the least bit surprised to wake up one morning to the insane cult girl's hands locked around her throat.

Trying to keep that thought out of her head, she followed close behind the guard, tearing her eyes away from the woman's gun to look back at something calming. Something soothing, that meant a lot to her. What better than the markings Nate had drawn on her hand earlier that day? With her gaze locked on them, the ghost of a smile crept across her face again. Nate would save her, he'd get rid of Emily if this guard didn't, wouldn't he? He'd at least make sure that if Emily tried to do anything to her, she would regret it. No-one else cared about her like that, they never had, and she doubted they ever would. If only Nate were here now instead of the guard, he'd sort all of this out.

Though she stayed close to the guard as she entered the room, it wasn't long before she hurried over to Tara-Anne, hoping that putting herself between the idiot and her sane roommate would add an extra layer of deterrent, for both of them. Tara might be the sane one of the two, but aggression did strange things to people, especially people who lived in ward A. "Hey, Tara, it's okay. I found a guard, she'll sort it all out." she said, her voice quiet, her pattern covered hand reaching for her roommate's. She had her back to Emily, ignoring the insane cultist, and once again hid her hook in her pocket, as if nothing had happened. The guard would get rid of the sociopath, and things would get back to normal. That was the way it worked around here, right?

Time After Time (Room A1 - Open) Empty Re: Time After Time (Room A1 - Open)

Post by Christiana Keeble Thu Jun 09, 2011 11:30 am

The three girls in this room were not reacting in a way Christiana was accustomed to. In the first place, the girl on the dresser--the one she hadn't reached for--was still angry-looking, but remaining in place. The girl who had come to get her--Ellen--had actually turned her back to the situation, as though fully trusting in the guard to handle the situation. And the remaining girl had twisted out of her grasp and struck a fighting pose. After her months at Hadley, Christiana was used to the students who struggled once she had them, the students who fought or ran when her back was turned, and the students who were so afraid of her that they merely froze and stared when she dealt with another student, but this? This was definitely unusual.

"No-one enslaves me."

The girl's voice hissed, low and menacing. The anger and fury was one thing. Christiana knew she could deal with that. It was the second note she heard--the note of fear. Just a slight amount, but enough that she realized instantly the seriousness of the situation. This wasn't the kind of uncontrolled terror that Kennedia had displayed struggling to get away from her. This was the kind of controlled terror that could be channeled into deadly force. She knew that if she had been out in a combat zone, this would have been the most dangerous enemy of all. Actually, even here, this was probably the most dangerous enemy of all. She would have to be on her toes.

As the thought passed through her mind, the girl charged her with a raised fist. Christiana tried to move out of the way, but the girl clipped her shoulder and knocked her off-balance. She twisted, taking most of the impact on her uninjured shoulder, and landed on the ground. Okay. If this was the way this girl wanted to play...this was how they would play.

She wasn't going to go for her gun, but she also wasn't going to just let this girl get away. And she knew, realistically, that there would be no way for her to get in close enough to grab her or tranq her. She tucked her body in, rolled, and came up in a gunman's crouch in front of one of the beds, well away from Ellen and Tara, so that when she fired she wouldn't risk hitting the innocent girls. In her hands, her finger on the trigger, was her taser, aiming steadily at the fighter.

The thought of yelling Stop or I'll shoot flickered through her mind, but she decided against it for two reasons. One, she was pretty sure this girl wouldn't stop, and she would have to shoot anyway, thereby making the warning redundant and also giving the girl more time to get out of the way. Second of all, the longer she delayed, the more likely that the girl would somehow manage to take the taser away from her and do some serious damage, either to her or to one of the other two girls. She squared her shoulders and pulled the trigger.

Time After Time (Room A1 - Open) Empty Re: Time After Time (Room A1 - Open)

Post by Guest Thu Jun 09, 2011 12:59 pm

Suddenly, the psycho wasn't interesting in Tara Anne any more. She ran at the security guard, one that Tara remembered from New York Hadley but not one she recalled the reputation of. She was sure she'd recall if she heard anything, this was one of the pretty guards. With hair like that Tara would have remembered, it looked like spun silk. The new girl was quickly proving more and more how completely nutty she was. And how masochistic Tara noted. The security guards at the institute had guns now. You'd have to be insane, or at least suicidal to do something like that. The cultie didn't seem suicidal to Tara Anne, just dumb as dirt and crazier than a shit house rat. Not a rare breed around these facilities, though admittedly this was was a little ballsier than they usually came.

Tara was surprised to find that this switch of target back her even more mad. She hadn't wanted to fight her at the get go, but now she didn't want to stop. With out punches coming at her she'd lost her excuse. The girl's face looked like it was starting to swell. That only made Tara want to make it even more so. Plus there was something about being passed over, even for something so undesirable as this that didn't sit right with her. Like this new girl from nowhere found someone better. Some how Tara decided she wanted that attention. She wanted that girl to see her and how much she could hurt her. That recognition.

"Stupid whore." Tara said, reaching now she pulled off her right shoe. As soon as it was off her foot she sent it flying, as close to the direction of the name-less girl's head as she could. Hopefully it would connect and get her the attention and pain she wanted to see. Reaching down she moved to grab the shoe off her other foot. She stopped short as the taser went off. Tara quickly dropped her foot. Oh shit....

Time After Time (Room A1 - Open) Empty Re: Time After Time (Room A1 - Open)

Post by Emily Redd Fri Jun 10, 2011 12:51 pm

Emily was driven by destructive fear as she charged the woman and was surprised when her fist only made contact with the edge of her shoulder. Emily didn’t see her duck into a firing position and didn’t even know what that was. Emily looked around for her again and soon noticed her kneeling by a bed. Emily raised her fist once more and Charged at her again. Normally Emily would not attempt the same failed attack but the fear driving her dulled that sense. Her eyes blazed with the dangerous mixture of fear and aggression that was surging through Emily’s mind

Emily began to close the distance between her and this woman with her fist raised once more. Suddenly something hit her in the head causing Emily to grunt in pain. The impact of Tara’s shoe also halted all of Emily’s momentum and she began to fall forward as she did so she heard the girl on the dresser call her a stupid whore. The Taser hit Emily less that a second after she began falling. Emily scrunched her face in pain as the electricity of the Taser surged through her body, Emily dropped like a sack because of it

Lying on her front Emily realised that it was all over. Her muscles would not respond and felt as if they weren’t really there. There was no way she could get up in time to stop the woman now and she knew it. She had failed and now would face her “just reward for doing so”. She had been defeated by this woman and now the woman owned her life, Emily would now have to face life as one of the slave sect. While it was right within the cult’s doctrine and by extension right in Emily’s mind, she still feared that fate and would still be struggling now if she could get her body to work. “Get it over with “Emily screamed at the woman with the tone of fear equalling the anger this time “I failed now claim your prize”

Time After Time (Room A1 - Open) Empty Re: Time After Time (Room A1 - Open)

Post by Ellen Underwood Tue Jun 14, 2011 7:49 pm

Ellen hadn't turned her back on the fight because she trusted the guard, far from it. She expected nothing less from total incompetence from the staff here, but all she'd needed the woman for was to break up the fight before Tara got into real trouble. the reason she'd turned away was because of Emily. She was sure that, given how stupid the cult girl had been so far, all she would do would be to throw herself at the adult, and hopefully prove that she was the crazy one here. She'd been the one to start the fight after all, Ellen just hoped the guard would see that, even if it did seem as though everyone in the room was just going to ignore her. She could handle that though, she was used to being ignored by all and sundry. It wasn't as though she mattered to anyone but Nate, even now.

She'd tried to get Tara to stop, and she'd failed, just like she always did. "Tara, stop it, or they'll toss you in iso." she pleased, not caring hoe pathetic it sounded. if she'd thought herself capable, she'd have clambered up onto the top of the dresser too, but with her prosthetic, she didn't think she was capable of climbing even that far. Was this what life in ward A was going to be like? She wasn't sure how long she'd be able to put up with this for, the sheer level of hostility in this small room was going to get unbearable pretty fast. Why had they thrown her in here? She wasn't a danger to anyone, she was harmless, not like Emily, and apparently Tara. Honestly, she wasn't sure how long she'd last before she went totally crazy.

As the taser went off, the frail blonde flinched and whimpered a little. It stopped the little sociopath from trying anything else, and it wasn't as though Emily didn't deserve it, though that didn't make it any more pleasant to listen to. The screaming didn't help either, if anything it only served to prove just how detached from reality the idiot she'd been forced to share a room with was. The guards here might be criminally inept, that much was true, but...what the hell did Emily mean by just reward? What was she on? Ellen didn't think she wanted to know what kind of a prize the stupid girl thought the guard was going to take, but something told her she wouldn't want to see it. There was no way a guard would do anything like that though, Emily was just delusional.

Wasn't she?

Time After Time (Room A1 - Open) Empty Re: Time After Time (Room A1 - Open)

Post by Christiana Keeble Tue Jun 14, 2011 8:16 pm

Damn, this girl's fast, Christiana thought in the split-second before she pulled the trigger. She knew, realistically, that she didn't have a very high chance of hitting her. It was a million-to-one chance, and Chance had 999,999,999 casting votes. The odds were heavily stacked against her. And even if she did hit her, the crazy girl was probably immune to electric shocks or something, leaving Christiana in a very dangerous position. At least it might slow her down enough that she could reach her tranquilizers...

At first, Christiana didn't know why the girl had started to fall forward before the taser's charge hit her. Then, as her assailant hit the ground, she saw the shoe on the ground. Glancing up quickly, she saw Tara Anne drop her foot with a deer-in-the-headlights look of innocence about her. She was definitely going to have something to say about that, but the now supine girl was the priority at the moment. Keeping her hand warily on the taser, she moved closer.

It seemed to have done its job. The girl was lying on her front, not moving. As she approached, however, the girl screamed at her, telling her to "claim her prize." What was she talking about? Christiana was definitely going to be spending some quality time in the files room of the facility, catching up on who these people were. She had a good memory for faces and would be able to match this one to the photograph that accompanied the applications on file. Just from what little she had observed, she guessed the girl had either IED like Roscoe or was paranoid like Niamh. Either way, the answers would be in her file.

"I don't know what you mean by 'claim my prize,' but you're coming with me." She fished into her belt and pulled out a pair of restraints. She started to bend down, but stopped and shifted position so that she was standing over the girl's prone form, her legs straddling the girl's. That way she was in a good position to use the restraints, but far enough back that if the girl regained control of her muscles she couldn't easily grab for anything in her belt.

As she dropped to one knee and reached for the girl's arms to snap the restraints to her wrists, she looked up at the dresser again. "Tara Anne? I don't know who started the fight, but she had the bloody nose, and you threw a shoe at her. You need to come, too. Are you going to come on your own, or do I need to restrain you too?"

Time After Time (Room A1 - Open) Empty Re: Time After Time (Room A1 - Open)

Post by Guest Tue Jun 14, 2011 8:55 pm

The girl was on the floor defenseless. Tara Anne didn't think her shoe had a damn thing to do with it. Not after she kicked the girl in the face and barely got a flinch out of her. The taser on the other hand. She was wide eyed, an expression especially pronounced with her distinct lack of hair. There was a power in that. One that Tara Anne didn't want to be bitten by. She held back tight to her mirror. Steering as clear as possible from the device. Watching the guard like a hawk. But naturally for her there was a voice in the back of her head, considering what it would be like to have one in her hands. Her finger on the trigger. A little tingle traveling up her spine at the thought. It could be good, so good. But she'd never have one. Would she?

As the guard moved to restraint the other girl Tara Anne quickly felt her burst of adrenaline dip. Her knees felt a bit shaky and she eased herself down to sit on the dresser top, her feet dangling down across the drawers. Her hands instinctively moved up to her head to pull, a barren landscape found as her new hat had fallen off in the struggle, she racked her nails along the shorn and bald scalp in frustration. Leaving red tracks in their wake. Back and forth for a moment till her right hand came to her eyebrow instead. Plucking the small hairs placed sparsely there. They'd be gone before long. It was obvious she'd already picked at them previous. She stayed like that, coming down from the excitement and pulling out hairs until the guard spoke to her. Her hazel eyes snapping into focus on the woman. Tara Anne sighed in a disappointed manner and slide herself off the dresser top and on to the floor.

"I'll come. But for the record we were having a nice chat before she sucker punched me and started screaming about my sinful lack of hair." The young girl's voice was dark. Bitter. It was obvious she wasn't about to shoulder any responsibility for the fight. And why should she? She'd tried to be nice to the girl. Mission failed obviously. "The bloody nose was just a lucky bit of self-defense... I'm not rooming with her. I don't need this righteous bullshit anymore." Tara Anne scratched at her scalp again, just as hard and unrelenting. It wasn't the same, not nearly. But it was... something. She wasn't sure what. She reached down to grab the hat again and shoved it on her head. She didn't want to walk down the halls without it now that it was an option.

Tara Anne paused, waiting for the guard to get the girl up and lead the way. As they headed for the door Tara Anne reached out and gently touched Ellen's arm, her real one. Meeting her eyes with an earnest expression. One more suited to the country girl's face then the earlier one of anger. "Thanks, for the hat and the help. Seriously." Then a glance to the guard and once more her eyes went back to the blond. "I'll see ya later... I guess...." She hoped. Ellen seemed... good, like a good person. Nice, non-judgmental. Like someone who might get it, get everything. Tara Anne hoped that maybe they could be something more than room-mates. Hadley had always made her feel so alone, Tara Anne wanted this place to be different.

Time After Time (Room A1 - Open) Empty Re: Time After Time (Room A1 - Open)

Post by Emily Redd Wed Jun 22, 2011 4:13 pm

Of course. A fallen would not know about the slave laws Emily thought as the woman said she didn’t know what she meant. She also stated that Emily was to go with her. Emily at that time was just beginning to feel a tingling in her arms. Also she could vaguely feel a faint pressure on the outside of her legs which she assumed was the woman. She felt the woman reach for her arms again and had she still have control over her body she would struggle, but she was still regaining feeling in her arms. Emily then heard a soft click and knew it was over. She didn’t know what was going to happen now, as the woman clearly had no concept of the just laws, but had still captured her.

Emily heard the woman talk to someone called Tara Anne. Emily listened in to what the woman was saying and felt another burst of anger when she said that Tara threw a shoe at her. Emily’s mind quickly put it together when she realised the woman mentioned a bloodied nose just before e the shoe throwing. "Coward" she shouted towards Tara “striking from behind is a sign of weakness. Fights must be face to face”.

Emily could finally feel her body again and so was about to attempt to stand when she realised the woman was stood in a prime position to easily stop her. She couldn’t even fight back as her arms were restrained behind her back. The burst of anger began to fade at this moment when Tara spoke again. Emily had no real reaction to this as she had no concept of what bullshit meant. Emily decided to speak one last time before she faced whatever fate the woman had planned for her,”you show potential. I would like to challenge you again in the open to see your true abilities “Emily said to Tara

Time After Time (Room A1 - Open) Empty Re: Time After Time (Room A1 - Open)

Post by Ellen Underwood Thu Jun 23, 2011 9:11 pm

Everyone seemed to be ignoring Ellen again, and as usual, she didn't really mind. She caught sight of Tara scratching at her scalp and turned her back on the one roommate she'd thought was sane, trembling a little. How exactly was she supposed to handle herself in this room if both of the girls she was supposed to be sharing it with were so completely and utterly insane? Both from religious backgrounds too, if she'd deciphered the screaming correctly. She wasn't violent, she was just fat! Why had they put her in a room with two people who were so obviously going to spend their entire stays here tying to claw eachother's faces off? It was enough to turn her inwards again, and there was no way in hell she wanted that to happen. Not with Nate around.

As she tried to calm herself down, not at all surprised that even the guards was ignoring her, someone touched her arm. After almost jumping out of her skin, she turned to face Tara Anne, and gave a small smile. "Um...it was nothing, really." she replied, her voice quiet. "I hope so." she added, her gaze falling. Now Tara Anne was going to get in trouble too, that had not been the purpose of getting the guard, not by a long shot. Who'd listen to her side of things though? the guard didn't even want to take a statement or anything, she was just being pushed to the sidelines and ignored, all she'd done was try to help. Maybe there was something she could do though, even if the guard didn't want to listen to her?

"Don't hurt Tara." she said, turning to face the guard. "She didn't do anything wrong. The new girl attacked us, Tara was just defending herself. If she hadn't, she'd have killed her." she continued, pointing to Emily. "She's dangerous. She shouldn't be in the room with us. I'm not gonna share with her anymore either." she added, looking to Tara Anne again, and giving a tiny smile. "Emily started yelling and attacked Tara, she shoved me out of the way and I came to find you. Tara didn't start anything. She's a victim, and if she's gonna get in trouble, then I'm coming too." she continued, nodding again. Spending so much time with Nate was doing wonders for her confidence, even if it wasn't helping her self image much yet.

Time After Time (Room A1 - Open) Empty Re: Time After Time (Room A1 - Open)

Post by Christiana Keeble Sun Jun 26, 2011 5:23 am

Christiana tried to remain calm. She was mentally cataloguing everything that was said or done in this room to put in the girls' files--even if she would have to double-check the dorm assignments to figure out who this new girl was--but the situation was beginning to wear on her nerves, just a bit. Clearly Tara Anne and the girl who was now firmly restrained--thankfully--had put one another's backs up from the first moment. She would have to review the tapes to get the full story.

Now, however, was not the time. She addressed Tara Anne's comments first. "Your 'sinful lack of'...look, I know full well why your head is shaved, and I know you know I know." That was a lot of knowledge, but she kept going. "At this moment in time, it doesn't matter who started the fight. You were both involved in it, so you're both equally guilty for the moment. I'll review the tapes later and get the blame sorted out. For now, thank you for coming along without protest."

Stepping off of the prone girl's body, she reached for her arm to haul her to her feet. "As for you, missy, you can stop that kind of talk right now. Fighting is against facility rules. And if you think I'm going to willingly give you the chance to tangle with her again, you're--you've got another thought coming." She had been about to say "you're crazy" but realized that was kind of obvious and insensitive. If they had been back at Hadley she might have been tempted to skip all the usual steps and send her straight to iso, but she didn't know if St. Christina's had isolation units, and anyway she wasn't going to put a student in isolation without knowing what her issues were. What if that was how her parents had punished her and she had lingering trauma from that? It seemed unlikely, as this didn't seem like the sort of girl who feared anything, but anything was possible, except skiing through a revolving door.

It crossed her mind to ask Ellen's version of the story, but from her impassioned speech--startling enough from any student, let alone from the shy, quiet girl who hadn't spoken in weeks--Christiana wasn't sure she could count on an unbiased report. The girl was friends with Tara Anne, and however altruistic her motives, that might color her perceptions. After taking a second to re-orient herself, she spoke gently to the only person in the room who hadn't been involved in the fight. "I'm not going to hurt anybody, Ellen. And I'll definitely recommend that--Emily, is it?--be moved to another room. But even though Tara Anne may have been defending herself, she was still involved in a fight, and that's still against the rules, so I still have to do something about it." She thought about promising to go easy on the girl, but she realized that she couldn't, and anyway she didn't want Emily turning into a screaming harridan again. "If you'd like to come with us, though, you're more than welcome to. I'm sure Tara Anne wouldn't mind having a friend along, and I can take down your statement."

Addressing all three, keeping them in the loop, she added, "First things first. We're going to the infirmary. You probably need to have your nose set, and we have to make sure there's nothing else that may have gotten damaged."
