Emily sat brooding over her defeat a few weeks ago. What was that weapon and how did it shut off my body like that? she thought to herself with a look of fierce concentration on her face. “Do the fallen have greater weapons than that?...I was always told that fallen are weak pathetic creatures that will easily be defeated...yet time and again they have shown otherwise. The raid on our facility...is it me? Am I a failure or could it be...the priests were wrong about them?”Emily said as she found herself questioning certain factors of what she was taught

Confusion over the events after her defeat and her own sudden bout of questioning was overrunning Emily at this moment. She had always stood fast in her belief but now a tiny crack had appeared at the base. Desperation to cover it was the reason Emily was sitting out here staring off into the distance as she mulled over the situation. Her usually empty eyes bore the slight fear of someone who at least in part had begun to realise that perhaps some part of her life was a lie.

“I...I must discover if the order was wrong about the fallen...I must gain knowledge on them” Emily eventually concluded though her tone of voice sounded extremely unsure. If only Amelia were here She found herself thinking about her former social worker for the first time since coming here She may be a fallen but she would know what to do and how to help me. Climbing slowly to her feet Emily decided now was going to be the best time to find information on the fallen and their weaponry. She looked left and right for any sign of someone approaching so that she could ask where to find information in this place

Lily walked along, gently snapping her fingers against her thighs. She was still getting used to St. Christina's, and so far, the place just gave her the creeps. Too many crazies in one place, and she was definatly not one of them. A bad habit did not make her crazy, thank you very much. Some of the shit that these people did, though...

Like now, for instance. Here she was, taking a pleasant little walk, and who does she come across but some wackadoo mumbling to herself in what sounded like sci-fi jargon. Now this was the kind of basket case that belonged here. This was the kind of person that needed help - not her. Even the doctor's had proved that. Hadn't they put her in the lowest security ward? Hadn't they given her free range of the town, pretty much? What does that speak of her psych if not the fact that she was in perfect shape?

Jesus, if it weren't for that stupid accident, she'd be at home right now - well, at her aunt and uncle's home - sitting in her room, playing with her lighter. Not hurting a goddamn fly. They'd rather slap some diagnosis on her and ship her off to an island full of crazies than deal with the fact that maybe it was okay she was a little bit weird. You'd be weird, too, if you've been through half the shit she did. But no, just fill her up with some meds, that was enough of a solution.

Finally, she approached the girl, figuring if nothing else she could get a little entertainment out of the situation.

"What are you talking about?" She started, and though it seemed like a friendly question, her bewildered (and a bit disdaining) tone suggested anything but. Her snapping became louder, more impatient, as she waited for the girl to respond. If she was stuck in this nuthouse, it was best to figure out what kind of nuts they were.

Having climbed to her feet Emily stared into the sky for a moment in the hopes that her God understood her need to find more info on the fallen. Her confused mind found a rationale for this new need in the form that she could use the information to fight the fallen more efficiently. She began to walk inside with an almost vacant step. To anyone looking at her it would have seemed as if she was a puppet being guided by invisible strings. The doubt and fear over this situation were already beginning to fade at this point.

Emily was focused on her self-assigned mission and so she failed to notice the other girl until she spoke. Emily wheeled round at the sound to face then girl and smiled when she saw her. A fallen so soon? I’m sure I can ask her she thought to herself and her false smile grew a little. “You fallen have different ways...how do you fight wars? She asked hoping that the girl had at least passing knowledge of this subject. In Emily’s mind the girl in front of her was definitely of age to know this stuff.

As she waited for her answer Emily was sure she could hear a snapping sound somewhere nearby. Under normal circumstances she would have looked around in suspicion but she was focused upon the girl in front of her. Deep in the back of her mind, things that Amelia had said to her in the past that did not make sense to Emily began to replay. Some parts made some sense now but only the knowledge she could obtain from sources like the girl in front of her could possibly lead to a full understanding of the fallen and their odd culture.
