-Welcome to Green Ridge-

At first glance, the beautiful, coastal island of Green Ridge looks like a dream come true, but looks can be deceiving, and the island is much more than first impressions might make it seem. Isolated and secretive, Green Ridge is home to St. Christina Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center, which caters to troubled individuals of all ages. Green Ridge also plays host to a colorful cast of island residents, some of whom work at St. Christina's, some of whom work in town, some of whom visit the facility for outpatient treatment, and some of whom have family receiving treatment there. Many of Green Ridge's residents were relocated from The Hadley Institute for Troubled Youth in Phoenicia, part of Upstate New York, a place with a tragic and sordid past. But if Hadley's residents think that they are going to escape all of that by moving, including ghosts - a phenomenon some of them are already all too familiar with - they have another thing coming...

Green Ridge has its own special sort of history, shrouded in secrecy. Founded in the late 1880's, its original purpose was to house an asylum. Suffering from the aftershocks of the great San Francisco earthquake of 1909, the island played host to a tsunami that wreaked devastation on the asylum and the surrounding island. The building was water-damaged, some patients and residents were drowned in the resulting flood, and others escaped out into the main island. Following the tragedy, Green Ridge sat dormant for awhile, until a pharmaceutical company named GR Biotech bought it out in the early 1950's - the asylum as well as the island itself. The asylum was refurbished with the purpose of using it as a front to test non-FDA approved medications on the worst of the worst patients, the ones incapable of living in "normal" society. Patients and staff are rigorously selected by GR Biotech, and only the staff really know what goes on behind closed doors. The patients themselves are not aware of the elaborate drug-testing conspiracy they are subject to, and that's just the way GR Biotech would have it.

So how does GR find its patients? Privately funded and operated, the company is highly selective, and each prospective patient undergoes an extensive background investigation and screening process before they ever get the introduction and application packet in the mail. Yes, GR Biotech finds you...you don't find them. St. Christina's accepts inpatients and outpatients with a host of psychological and psychiatric issues, as well as substance abuse problems. Outpatients may live on the island with their families, while inpatients reside within the confines of St. Christina's, subject to illegal drug testing and a host of potential side effects, not to mention the ghosts that haunt the halls...

How is this conspiracy kept secret? It's easier than you might think. The patients don't know that they're being used, and neither do their families or friends. Due to the unique nature of St. Christina's, parents or guardians - and even the patients themselves, if they are over eighteen years of age - find it perfectly reasonable to sign off medical waivers to allow the on-staff psychiatric staff complete discretion in putting the patient on a medication supplement plan. The psychiatric staff evaluates each patient upon admission and begins the challenging, oftentimes long process of 'finding the drug that works' for them. Side effects ranging from mild to horrifying are not at all uncommon during this process, and when that happens, it's back to the drawing board. Drugs are passed out during meal times according to the psychiatric staff's notes in the patient's chart.

And when one of the patients acts out, as they are so likely to do, they become the unwitting guinea pig for new and exciting sedatives.

Those with mental health issues on Green Ridge can live and work alongside the residents, who are aware that those they meet on the island and see everyday may not be as healthy and well-adjusted as they are. None of them, however, know the whole story, aside from those who work for GR Biotech and St. Christina's, and those persons are naturally sworn to secrecy.

Welcome to Green Ridge and St. Christina's, a private pharmaceutical hell for the tragic, broken and misunderstood. Join the struggle to find yourself under unbelievable pressure, in the midst of an elaborate conspiracy to illegally test unapproved drugs, and in the presence of an ill assortment of spirits who are up to anything but rest.

And that's not even touching the problems you might face from the rest of the island's inhabitants. Enjoy your stay.
